This is Weekend Adventures

Hi! We're Ben & Courtney, two travel addicts from The United States that run a 'travel content creation' company named Weekend Adventures. While stationed in Germany we met in 2016 and began traveling through Europe.  From our passion for traveling, photography, and sharing experiences, Weekend Adventures was born on Instagram. As of November 2019, we started to capture the world to document and share on our Youtube Travel Channel.  We wanted to remember where we have been and also help inspire others to get out and explore more of this amazing place called Earth

Who Is Courtney?

Let me see.... I would probably describe myself as your Happy Florida Girl!! I love the Beach and going to the Mountains. I am an outdoor enthusiast and love to travel.  Seeing new things and trying new foods are definetly something I enjoy.  I am always on the lookout for a Café that makes a fresh Açaí bowl with some good coffee. Lastly, I love puppies! but who doesn't

Who Is Ben?

Hey there! I'm Ben,  I was born in Hawaii and grew up in Alaska so I love both the mountains and the Beach.  Traveling off the main path is more my style.  I am always looking for that empty beach or secluded camping spot.  I love to travel it has taught me so many useful things.  It has become something I can't live without and I'm always looking forward to the next adventure!!

But why Weekend Adventures?!

The name Weekend Adventures popped up when we were living in Germany. As the time came closer for us to move back to the States (3 years out) we wanted to maximize our travel.  So we started booking as many trips as we could with Ryan air and sky scanner.  On the weekends we had off from work we would plan road trips to different areas around us (Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, etc...) We loved it!! As soon as we got off from work at usually 4:30,  We both were medical in the Airforce at Ramstein AB,  Ben would go home and take a 4-6 hour nap and Courtney would pack up the snack bag and load up the car.  We would leave in the middle of the night at 11pm and drive to what ever adventure we had planned.  Courtney would sleep on the drive and then by sunrise we would be pulling up in a different Country.  A few trips like these and then we started saying I can't wait until this weekends adventure and the rest is history.

Our Most Asked Questions

How did you start to travel the world?

We created @Weekend Adventures on Instagram in October 2019 after our first year of intense travel where we went knocked off 21 different Countries throughout Europe.  Courtney had her personal instagram @Peachy_Beach_Blonde explode with new followers as well.

The biggest advantage we had was that we were living and working in Germany for the United States Airforce.  Courtney worked as a Public Health Technician and Ben worked as an Optometry Technician.  Being in Europe and the ease of public transportation, cheap Ryan air flights, and the willingness to drive up to 12 hours away in a single shot opened up a huge area around Germany to be able to get to so many countries.  We got hooked to travel and wanted to see and experience as much as we could.  We made it work while working full time (sometimes more than 40 hours a week) by planning our big trips (Flight was involved) around our work schedule and holidays and our small trips (driving by car) on the weekends.

We then were held back from a lack of funds to continue to travel.  We then started to optimize our travel financially! learning how to get discounts on rooms/flights/activities and working with companies. But also credit card travel hacking and using points to book our flights was a game changer!!

What camera Gear/editing software do you use?

Our bag has grown over the years but we've narrowed it down to our go to favorite gear.  It also depends on the trip and location we are going to for which items we bring.

We do want to say that you don't need fancy gear to vlog/blog so just start with what you have and add things as you can!!
